John was a 1966 Southside High School graduate. He was an exceptional salesman for over 40 years. He represented Dist. #30 in the House Of Representatives 1988-1990 where he was elected Freshman Legislature of the year. He served on the Way and Mean committee and was President of the Rainbow City Water Board from 1988 -1994. John was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, and he currently attended New Faith Church.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Colvin (Opal Colvin); and mother, Marion Fite and numerous brothers, sisters, and close cousins.
He is survived by his daughters, April Pope, Alison Rosario (Enrique), and Adrianna Colvin; only son, John Wesley Colvin III; grandchildren, Ashley Pope, Austin Snyder, Alixzandra Hoge (Dylan), Baylee Ramey Greene (Nick), and Bradee Snyder (Jesse); great-grandchildren, Carleigh Hoge, Owen Hoge, Emmie Hoge, Presleigh Snyder, Jaxtyn and Ivey Snyder, Isla Greene; and special friend, Judy Foster.

Memorial service will be held at 4pm on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Harry Gulledge officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 until 4pm.
