Mr. Lankford was born March 12, 1935, in Attalla, Alabama.
David “Ducky” was a 37 year resident of the Keener Community in Etowah County.
He was married to Ida Lankford for 58 years.
He was a lifelong member of Tabor Church of God where he served as bus driver, youth leader, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and clerk. He loved working with children and teaching God’s word. He would brag of how he had not missed more than 10 services in 53 years. He was very proud of the fact that he had read the bible through for the 35th time. When David was saved, it changed the entire direction of his life and the lives of his children and family. He leaves behind a great legacy of loving Jesus, loving the word of God, and loving people. He will be greatly missed by his family and church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Collinsville Trade Day where he bought and sold fishing equipment for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Ruby Williams; brothers, Jackie (Viola) Lankford and Cecil (Juanita) Lankford; and sister, Margaret (Ray) Farley.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ida Lankford; daughters, Sherry (Kenneth) Cothran, Linda (Ken) Willis, sons, George (Rosa) Lankford, David "Bo" Franklin Lankford, Jeff (Rebecca) Lankford, and Benji (Stephanie) Lankford; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and sons in law.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 6 until 8p.m. at Tabor Church of God.
Funeral Service will be at 12p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at the church with Rev. Chris Kirby and Rev. Michael Clecker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Masks will be strictly required during visitation and service due to COVID-19.
