It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Slavica Gloria Juric, lovingly known as Slava or Gloria, on December 15th in her home in Atlanta. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, Zoran, and daughters, Nives and Tamara—her greatest pride and joy.
Born and raised in Kozarska Dubica, Slavica grew up in a warm and loving home with her parents, Svetozar and Čuba, and her three sisters, Milicia, Lela, and Ljiljana. From a young age, Slavica exhibited extraordinary determination and creativity, qualities that would define her remarkable life.
She earned her law degree from the University of Sarajevo and built a successful career as in-house counsel for a prominent hospital in Sarajevo. After immigrating to Atlanta, GA in 1994 due to conflict in ex-Yugoslavia, she discovered a new calling in teaching. Whether working in private schools or with families, Slavica brought immense passion to her role, teaching children lessons that extended far beyond the classroom—from manners and life skills to art and creativity.
Slavica’s vibrant spirit touched countless lives. She was beloved as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher. She also had a boundless creative energy, which she expressed through her baking—her “kiflice” were legendary—and her self-taught artistry, drawing and painting with dedication until her final days.
Her life was defined by her positivity, confidence, and unwavering love for others. She approached every challenge with grace and determination, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and inspiration. Known for her radiant smile, Slavica had an extraordinary ability to uplift everyone she met—family, friends, and strangers alike.
Slavica’s two daughters will carry forward her legacy, channeling her love, creativity, and strength in their own lives.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
There will be a Visitation from 1-2:00pm, and a Memorial Service at 2:00pm Saturday, December 21, 2024 with a reception following at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319.
