Oby Terrell Brewer, III, age 61, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on October 8, 2015. An active member of Northside United Methodist Church of Atlanta, Oby was an avid cyclist, wine collector, and most importantly, a loving husband, brother, son, friend, father and grandfather. A native Atlantan, Oby graduated from W.F. Dykes High School in 1972 and went on to Georgia Tech where he was a standout football player and graduated in 1976 with honors. Oby loved the Yellow Jackets and could often be found watching them play alongside the beloved family Maltese, "Buzz". After graduating from Vanderbilt Law School in 1979, he went on to become a partner at Morris Manning and Martin where he stayed for thirty years. He later moved to be a partner at James Bates Brannen and Groover. As a longtime member of Capital City Club and the Ponte Vedra Club, he spent many wonderful afternoons on the golf course with his friends and his son, Oby. Oby was married to the love of his life, Catherine Coker Brewer, for 20 glorious years. They laughed their way through life and shared a sense of humor that made everything fun. Their home was always full of family, friends, and cases of red wine to share. Oby will be remembered by all for his unparalleled generosity, thoughtfulness, and dedication to his friends and family. Oby was preceded in death by his parents, Oby T. Brewer, Jr. and Betty Jo Gann Brewer and is survived by his wife, Catherine Brewer, and his children, Oby T. Brewer IV and Cassie Tindell Brewer of Chattanooga, TN, Evan and Christy Sussenbach of Columbus, GA, Allison and Mary Catherine Sheats of Atlanta and granddaughter Campbell Brewer; sister Vicki Henderson of Atlanta and Mike Brewer of Colorado. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 11th at 2:00 in the Faith and Arts Center at Northside United Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Drive NW in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside United Methodist Church.
