Lauren Christie Proctor was born Lauren Christie Hyman but has always been known as ‘Lori’. Her parents, Jim and Penny Hyman, welcomed her joyfully into this world on May 2, 1981, in Hollywood, Florida.
Lori grew up in Sunrise, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. She and her family moved to Peachtree City, Georgia in 1992 when Lori was 11 years old. Lori attended Booth Middle School where she participated on the basketball and track teams. She also enjoyed playing recreational softball and dance. She later attended McIntosh High School where she played freshman basketball and was a member of the track team. Lori graduated from McIntosh High School in May 1999.
Lori matriculated to Emory University and graduated with a marketing degree in May 2003. In the fall of 2001, she spent a semester abroad studying both business and Spanish in Barcelona, Spain. It was there that she met her future husband, Ryan. Lori and Ryan were married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico on October 6, 2007. They recently celebrated their 15th anniversary.
For more than 15 years, Lori worked with many of the premier marketing agencies in Atlanta. She developed a love of tennis and was active in competitive leagues for several years, contributing to some City Championship efforts.
On July 8, 2015, Lori and Ryan welcomed Dylan Harrison Proctor to their home. On November 7, 2017, Eva Melissa Proctor completed their family. Cats Captain and Scout and dog Saylor were family members. Their lab-mix Leah now keeps the family company, along with fish named Flash and Purple.
For 12 years the family lived in East Atlanta and have resided in the Oak Grove neighborhood since December 2020.
For the past 5 years Lori was pursuing a medical degree at Georgia State University. She was to receive her white coat in January 2023 and her doctorate in Occupational Therapy in May 2024.
Lori will be remembered as a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, colleague, co-worker, mentor, student and friend. She was a beacon in the lives of those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed and in our hearts forever.
