Jean LaCrosse Heslin

Heslin, Jean Marie. Jean was born June 10, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts to Helen and Henry LaCrosse. She died peacefully on March 6, 2011 at Cobblestone at Park Springs, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Jean attended West Roxbury High and upon graduation entered Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Jean married William P. Heslin on June 29, 1957. After having her first two children in Boston, Kevin and Steve, she and Bill left Boston to seek their fortunes in the Deep South in Atlanta, where Michele was born. Jean and her family stayed in Atlanta except for a brief five-year stay in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Jean spent a 20-year career with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, where she retired in 1994. Jean has been an active member of the Oxford Square Garden Club, enjoying the social activities more than the gardening! She enjoyed traveling and filling her Saturdays in the Fall with her grandchildren while her family was away at Georgia Football games. Jean is survived by her three children and seven grandchildren, Kevin and wife Barb Heslin of Charlotte and children Rebecca of Washington, D.C. and Ryan of Royal Oak, MI; Steve and wife Beverly Heslin of Lilburn and children Brianna, Jennifer and James; and Michele and husband Chris McDaniel of Snellville and children Sarah and Matthew. A wake will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1350 Hearst Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 pm. A reception will be held at the church following the mass. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 1559 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, designated to lung cancer in memory of Jean M. Heslin.
