Elizabeth Ann (Saggus) Sage of Atlanta, GA passed away January 10, 2022. She was the wife of Joshua Batchelder and widow of the late George Darby Sage. Betty Ann was born in Atlanta on August 15, 1934, the daughter of the late M. Oliver Saggus, the late Grace M. Saggus and the sister of the late Dorothy Grace Ballew. After enjoying a wonderful childhood in the Morningside area, Betty Ann enrolled at Wesleyan College and later attended Auburn University where she met and married her beloved Darby. She graduated from Auburn with a dual degree in Home Economics and Fashion Merchandising. Cherished mother of Craig Darby Sage (Pam), Brian Marshall Sage (Stefanie), and the late Scott Bradley Sage. She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren: Kyle Sage (Abbey), David Sage (Catherine), Chad Sage (Dallas), Lauren Regan (Brendan), Jonathan Sage and Isabella Sage. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren with another great grandchild to be born in May.
Betty Ann enjoyed a long and full life pursuing various interests which included Home Decorating, Garden Club, and a successful career in Real Estate. Former member of Briarlake Baptist Church she participated in Choir and Christian Education. She was passionate about travel both domestic and abroad. Later in life she enjoyed numerous cruises where she assisted her husband Joshua during his Handwriting Analysis seminars. Her sense of humor was contagious, and she enjoyed music as well as dancing even until the last days of her life. The family would like to give special thanks to her excellent caregivers (Barbara, Julie, Loretta and Sally) who not only cared for her physical needs but also insured that her days were filled with joy.
Funeral services will be held at H. M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319, on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 10:00 am. A reception for friends and family will be held following the service. Private burial. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org in memory of Betty Ann Sage.
