His family moved to New York for several years but returned to Atlanta where he attended and graduated from Tech High School in Atlanta in 1942. Upon graduation in that same year he joined the U S Navy with his older brother Roy, where they served in the Pacific Theater upon an aircraft carrier and he worked as an airplane mechanic. At the end of the war, he and his brother were both able to return safely and very seldom spoke about his time in the U S Navy. Charles attended Ga. Tech for only a couple of years, then left and transferred to Emory University where he graduated with a Law Degree in 1957 and became a member of the Ga. Bar Assoc. shortly afterwards. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle until moving his faith to Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Mr. Pritchard became a partner of Lipshutz,Zusmann, Sikes law firm in Atlanta and made remained until his retirement 30 years later where he then opened his own law practice in Buckhead until finally retiring in 1999. Mr. Pritchard is survived by his wife of 64 years Katherine Payne Pritchard and his two children, Charles C. Pritchard, Jr. and his wife Kim, and Amanda Lou Fichter and her husband Larry Fichter, along with several grandchildren, Charles C. Pritchard, III, Dustin Fichter, Preston Fichter and Darren Fichter.
He was a dedicated member of the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist church for approximately fifty years, where he severed as a deacon and Sunday School teacher during the majority of those years. Mr. Pritchard loved his Savior, his country, and his family. He will be solely missed by all that knew him. Funeral services will be held Friday July 26th at 11am at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
