Charles Cleveland Crawford Jr., 81, of Dunwoody died Tuesday, 14 August 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born 10 May 1931 and raised in Griffin, Ga. He held a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and was a key figure in military aviation throughout his distinguished career with the U. S. Air Force, the U. S. Army and Georgia Tech Research Institute.
Affectionately known as “Big Pop”, Charlie’s legacy will live on thru his wife of 58 years, Miriam Agnes (Paddy) Keiley Crawford and their 8 children, Colly (Ed), Chip (Pat), Shelley (Mitch), Joe (Chris), Matt (Trace), Katy (Nick), Christy (Mark), and Suzy (John), and 23 grandchildren.
An only child, Charlie delighted in his large extended family and many dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, 18 Aug 2012 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church 7171 Glenridge Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a funeral mass celebrating his life at 12 o’clock noon.
Charles will be laid to rest at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy NW, in Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations to Georgia Tech Catholic Center at gtcatholic.org, and / or ALS would be appreciated.
