Belinda Wedgwood, 64, of Brookhaven, GA, passed away on November 9, 2021 at home in Dunwoody, GA. Born in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Cormah McCarty on Friday, May 30, 1957, Belinda attended high school in Philadelphia and later studied accounting at the University of Toledo. She subsequently worked for several accounting firms in Atlanta, Georgia, before creating her own accounting service in the late 80s.
An active member of both her community and church, Belinda served in a wide array of positions, among these were: Board member and PTO president, Chamblee High School; as leader in the AMIS student exchange program; Board Trustee for The Suthers Center for Christian Outreach and the Emergency Assistance Team; volunteer St. Martins Episcopal School; Leader, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; Sunday School Teacher; Stephen Minister for many years; member of the Daughters of the King; continued education through EFM, and participation in the Habitat for Humanity projects. Altar Guild, the Flower Guild and Handbell Choir benefitted from Belinda's creative energy and dedication to Saint Martin in the Fields, her faith based community, to which she gave so much of herself.
Belinda was awarded many honors for her selfless service to others. She loved the outdoors and nature, could often be caught watching Atlanta sporting events with her sons. She was an avid dog lover. She loved life and lived to the fullest, full of happiness and joy for those around her and those she loved.
Belinda was preceded in death by Cormah Nichols, her mother; Craig Wedgwood, the father of her sons; Jerry Nichols, her brother; and Layla Wedgwood, her greatest friend.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at St. Martins in the Field Episcopal Church on Ashford Dunwoody in Brookhaven, GA. The Rev. Monica Mainwaring will officiate the service. Belinda will be laid to rest in the columbarium at St. Martin’s in the Fields Episcopal Church.
Memorials may be given to The Suther’s Center for Christian Outreach. The familiy wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Emory Healthcare Community, Bridgeway Hospice, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Juliana McHale, Monica Mainwaring and Melinda Mischik. May she rest in peace, remembered for her constant generous spirit and tireless work for those in need.
