ASHLEY, Antoinette (Toine) Jones, age 76, of Dunwoody, GA, died surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 25th. Toine fought a brave battle against a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer. She was born on April 2nd, 1941, in Atlanta, GA, to the late Enoch Posey Jones and Antoinette Rauschenberg Jones. She married Roy Ashley on August 20, 1964, and they lived in Doraville and, thereafter, Dunwoody, GA. Toine graduated from Northside High School in 1960 and received Bachelors degrees in Education and Home Economics from the University of Georgia in 1964. Toine was a remarkable woman, devoted wife, fiercely supportive and protective mother and grandmother, devout Christian, incredible giver, and faithful friend to many. She was the bedrock of her husband’s successful career as a landscape architect, as well as the unwavering force in her sons’ successes. Roy was the love of her life, and she never got over his death in 2015. She was enormously proud of all her sons’ efforts and achievements, and worried endlessly about their whereabouts and endeavors. She loved kids, and was a wonderful school teacher in DeKalb County, GA. A dedicated volunteer and giver, Toine sought to improve the very fiber of her community. She served as president of the Dunwoody Woman’s Club, which is a service organization dedicated to improving the Dunwoody and North DeKalb County communities. She was very honored to be named Club Woman of the year and received many other honors and recognitions. She was a Georgia Bulldog season football ticket holder for over 50 years; she cared intensely for the Dawgs and despised yellow jackets, swamp creatures, various forms of cats and birds of prey, and, in particular, referees with a need for glasses. She was a special woman, full of care and compassion for others. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched. She is survived by her sister, Maryanna McKibbon, and her three sons: Kenneth Roy Ashley, his wife, Karen, and their children, Jonathan, Noah, Meghan and Anna of Dunwoody, GA, Michael Troy Ashley, his wife, Stephanie, and their daughter, Stella of Olathe, KS, and Walker Scott Ashley, his wife, Sharon, and their children, Chase and Skyler of DeKalb, IL; other relatives and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ashley, in 2015 and her sister, Rebecca Jones, in 2010. Visitation will occur at H.M. Patterson 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 2nd, 2018.
