A native of Athens, GA, Ms. Carey was the daughter of Richard Ted Carey and Melody Whitman Carey. She graduated from Oconee County High School in 1985 and was the office manager for Paul Martin Management for the last 14 years. Ms. Carey was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her parents include daughter, Heather LaShane Carey of Winterville; son, Devin Cole Venable and their father, Kelly Venable of Crawford and son, Alexander “Alex” Edward Denton and his father, Todd Denton of Athens; brothers, Richard Ted Carey Jr of Watkinsville and Dennis Gregory Carey of Athens; sister, Monica Carey Allen of Lexington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM Friday, September 30th at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Rev David Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, September 29th at Bernstein Funeral Home.
