A native of Athens, GA, Mr. Epps was the son of the late Oscar E Epps and Lottie Wallace Epps and was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Sullivan Epps. Mr. Epps served in the United States Army during World War II and was involved in the battle of the Cebu Islands, Philippines Islands and Northern Solomons Islands. He was wounded in action during the Battle of the Northern Solomons and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Epps also received the Bronze Star, the Asiatic Pacific ribbon with one battle star, and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with one battle star. Mr. Epps was employed for many years at Cross Roll Textile.
Survivors include son, Dwain Epps and wife, Laura of Winterville; daughter, Linda Epps of Comer; grandchildren, Lori Edwards, Travis Epps, Amanda Epps, and Justin Epps; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 2PM Thursday, February 14th at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev Renee Dubose officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-2PM prior to the service at Bernstein Funeral Home.
