Craig Brooks, age 32, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Athens Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Craig was born in Statesboro and had lived in Athens since 1990. He attended 4th Street School, Gaines School, Clarke Middle School and Cedar Shoals High School and was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church. Craig loved to swim and very much enjoyed the ocean and brought much joy to his family.
Craig was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Billy and Fosky Henderson; paternal grandparents, Johnny and Dot Brooks; uncles, Brad Henderson and Michael Brooks; and cousin, Zach Henderson.
Craig is survived by his parents, Steve and Carol Brooks of Athens; sisters, Stefanie Brooks Hunt and her husband, Ryan and Sarah Brooks, all of Athens; aunts and uncles, Chris and Perry Watts of Kennesaw, Johnny and Pat Henderson of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Fran Hobbs of Bend, Oregon, Joanne and Bobby Thomas, Paula Reid and Jim Brooks, all of Jacksonville, Florida; cousins, Brad Henderson, Matthew Watts and his wife, Kristel, Kim Hobbs and her husband, Derek, Jenny Hobbs and her husband, John, Zach Watts, Abby Myers and her husband, Jake, KeYana Reid, Stephen Reid, Ashley Brooks, Evan Brooks and Kelly Morris and her husband, Adam.
A celebration of Craig's life will be held Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
