Linda was born April 1, 1942, in Athens, Georgia to the late David and Rachel Sims. As the oldest daughter, she was a caretaker to her brother and sisters, as well as being the assistant mom for the Sims family. As she grew into a beautiful woman, she caught the eyes of an Athens High School football star who became the love of her life, Donald Anglin. Together they raised three girls, Tammy, Melanie, and Kimberly. Linda was a phenomenal wife, mother, and sister. Donald was able to accomplish all he did because Linda was always there to take care of every family need. Nothing brought more joy to Linda than being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the best momom to her own grandchildren and even became momom to family friends. Momom could often found in the kitchen and was an amazing cook. While papa played the grump on Saturday mornings with the grandkids, momom was in the kitchen making breakfast. Her cooking became the center of family events. Linda was a caretaker to everyone she loved, until she was too sick to do so. Her daughters spent the remainder of her life loving and tending to her every need. Her passing is the closing of a book that our family will always mourn, but memories of her will always fill our hearts with love and joy.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Anglin; her great-grandchild, Harrison Anglin Walters; and her brother, David E. Sims, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Anglin Wheeler, of Elberton; Melanie Anglin Rutledge of Oconee County; Kimberly Anglin Frank (John) of Comer; sisters, Becky Worlds (Terry) of Charlotte, NC and Cynthia Sims Syfan of Gainesville; six grandchildren, Clinton Thacker (Stacey); Jarrod Thacker (Ashley), all of Jasper; Sidney Walters (Clif) of Aiken, SC; McCall Wheeler (D.K.) of Toccoa; Luke Frank (Gabrielle) of Comer; Ethan Frank of Athens; nine great-grandchildren, Kingsley Wheeler, Carter Walters, Charlotte Walters, Charlie Thacker, Noah Thacker, Kamryn Dooley, Mila Dooley, Elder Thacker and Kensin Dooley; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2024, in Evergreen Memorial Park with Reverend Jim Stuchell officiating.
