A native of Madison County, Mr. Strickland was the son of the late Euel and Roberta Thompson Strickland and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fortson. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a self-employed TV repairman. Mr. Strickland was a member of Hull Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Oakes Strickland of Hull; daughters, Jeannie Tyner and husband, Mark of Athens, Cecilia Mathews and husband, Rudy of Hull, and Brenda Dove and husband, Bryan of Danielsville; son, Richard MacLean of Michigan; step-daughters, Tammy McAdams and husband, Craig of Warner Robins and Glenda Suits of Savannah; step-son, Scott Suits and wife, Debbie of Danielsville; brothers, James Strickland and wife, Evelyn of Winterville, Curtis Strickland and wife, Patricia of Augusta, and Donald Strickland and wife, Hilda of Milner, GA; sister, Florene Jenkins of Danielsville; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, August 6th at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Friday, August 5th at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Mathews, Brandon Tyner, Beau Malpass, Christopher Dove, Randy Jones, and Scott Suits.
