Born in Dacula, Ga., he was the son of the late Elmer A. and Mildred Everette Strickland. Mr. Strickland was also preceded in death by sons David and John Strickland and a nephew Ken Strickland. He owned and operated Strickland’s Texaco Service Station on Lumpkin Street for several years and later retired as Vice President and General Manager of the Persian Rug Company in 1998. Mr. Strickland was also an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Josephine Lewis Strickland of Athens, daughter Terri Strickland Guy her husband Dana, granddaughter Danielle Teresa Guy all of Athens; brothers Roger Strickland and wife Gaye of Lawrenceville and Doug Strickland and wife Martha of Auburn; sister Delores Gaddis of Dacula; mother in law Mrs. Joe (Anicia) Lewis; sister in law and brother in law JoAn and Tony Salloum all of Athens and a number of nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, October 15, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Father David McGuinness officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday, October 14, at Bernstein.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Capital Campaign, 134 Prince Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30601.
Pallbearers will be Tim Strickland, Jeff Strickland, Brian Strickland, Keith Strickland, Adam Gaddis and Jon Strickland.
