Mr. Hughes was born September 23, 1944, in Limestone County to Onnie and Mary Jackson Hughes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers James Hughes, Phillip Hughes, Edward Hughes, David Hughes, Charles Hughes; sisters Dorothy Hunt, and Mabel Harris.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ann C. Hughes; sons Michael Wayne Hughes of Athens; daughter Janet Hughes of Elkmont; sisters Martha Burchell, Geneva Downs, grandchildren, William Chase Summers (Ashley), Wesley Summers, Heston Hughes, Madison Hughes Plunkett (Josh); great-grandchildren Samantha Summers and RaeAnn Plunkett.
William dearly enjoyed spending time with his family, they were the light in his life. He could often be found out in his shop working on vintage vehicles. He worked for Martha White and was named top salesman while working there. He also worked for Aviagen for several years. William was a music lover that enjoyed singing and dancing. A quick wit, he was often the first to crack a joke.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 at McConnell Funeral Home from 11:30- 1:00pm, with a service following in his honor at 1pm. Burial will follow at Limestone Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Limestone County.
