Robert Wayne Steele

Mr. Steele was born July 3, 1947 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to William Steele and Mary Toigo Steele. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Steele was part of the first graduating class of Tremper High School in 1965 in Kenosha, WI. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UW Madison. He served with the 173 Airborne (Herd) from 1970 to 1971, receiving numerous military decorations including the bronze star. He worked at Snap-on Headquarters, in Kenosha WI, for many years; transferring to the Alabama location in 2005. After retiring from Snap-On he continued his career at AR Suma for a couple more years.

He married Nancy Schutz on December 23, 1970, later divorced and then married Rosemary Stewart on October 3, 1992. He was a master wood carver. He loved his family and friends and would do anything to help. He loved to make people laugh with his wry sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Steele; one daughter, Michelle (Jay) Johnson; one son, Eric (Mary) Steele; grandchildren, Tyler Steele and Alexandra Johnson (Michelle and Jay’s children), Olivia, Gavin and Maxwell Steele (Eric’s children); sisters, Jean (Gale)Thompson, Diana (Gary) Pomeroy, Norma (Danny) Moran; several nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
