On February 7, 1963, Denise was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Ray and Phillis (Willocks) Underwood. Denise was preceded in death by her Father-in-Law, Fred Livingston.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jeff, her two cherished children Rylie and Ryan, her parents, Ray and Phyllis (Willocks) Underwood, two sisters, Felicia Best (Randy), Evelyn Sams (Danny), Mother-in-Law, Ruble Livingston, Sister-in-Law, Jennifer Brown (Scott), Goddaughter, Angela Flook (Thomas), along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and three God-grandsons.
Denise attended Good Hope High School in Cullman, Alabama, and graduated in 1981. Then on August 29, 1981, Denise wed her high school sweetheart, Jeff Livingston, and started their new life journey in Charlotte, NC. God chose them to be the parents of two of the most loved and incredible children, Rylie and Ryan, who were Denise's treasures. It was in Charlotte where she began her career in Property Management. She managed several apartment communities in the area and later moved into real estate sales with the Allan Tate group. She loved the business because it allowed her to meet so many new people and help them in one of the most significant decisions of their lives.
Denise never met a stranger. She could make you feel as if you were life-long friends within moments of meeting. She had a knack for knowing what you needed without you ever mentioning a word, whether it was words of encouragement, a hug, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to bend, a hot meal, or a safe place to stay amid a tornado. If you were to look up the definitions of selflessness, love, kindness, generosity, passion, and vibrant, you would find her name and photo by each of these words. Denise was full of life and lived it to the fullest. She had a way of making everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the world. If only we could possess one-tenth of the love and kindness held within her, we could all make the world a better place to live and find the silver lining in every situation.
When you are down and missing Denise, please do not be sad, for she would not want you for one second to be sad; look to the sky and see the beacon of light that she is shining down on you. Instead of being sad, she would like you to do an act of kindness for someone else. Please join us in celebrating her life at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens –1200 E Forrest St, Athens, AL 35613, on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Denise's honor to one of her chosen Cancer Charities; the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Colon Cancer Coalition and Fight Colorectal Cancer.
Her wishes are for others to never put off their colon screenings. The disease can almost always be curable with early detection. As she would always say, “Love Your Gut!” To honor her, live your best life and be the best “Dash Warrior” you can be.
