Horace Haney always was so friendly to us when we came in from Arkansas to visit Mama and Daddy.  He and Shirley were always so kind and protective of my mom, Marie, at Marie’s Country Store.   Mama and daddy always spoke so fondly of them both. Gerald and I were so saddened to hear of Horace passing away.  Even though we didn’t know him well, we always felt like he was a friend. That’s the way we all should be to others. He set such a great example for us all. Love and Prayers for you all. 

It was always good to talk to him when he was at the gin for morning coffee. I was hauling cotton seed and tell him about the crops in Indiana. Rest In Peace Mr Haney.

Horace was such a good friend to my parents, Marie and George Morring, who owned Marie’s Country Store. They loved him, as our whole family did. I have fond memories of visiting with him when I would see my folks in Tanner. He was a great man and will be missed greatly. Our prayers are with you all. 

We are saddened to hear. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of loss. He was always great to talk to and will be truly missed.  God Bless You.

Horace and I have lots of memories that go back to Tanner High  School.  In the 50's  Shirley was center, Horace was right guard, Travis Phillips was fullback and I was quarterback.  We were bad up the middle. I miss you, Horace, and love you like a brother

Being a game warden I was the brunt of many Horace Haney jokes or shenanigans.  He was extremely hard to get a joke on.  I had my opportunity in the spring of 2019.  Horace told me he had spotted an eagle’s nest near a field he was farming close to Bethlehem Church Road.  I checked out his report and located the nest and made plans to pull one on Horace.  I saw him later and he inquired about the nest and asked if there was anything he could do.  I advised him Eagle’s nest are federally protected and as such all farming activity within 400 yards of nest must cease.  He immediately said “damn I knew I should not have told you about that nest.”  I advised Matt of the prank and let Horace worry about loosing the crop near the nest.  Horace had asked me not to tell Matt about his predicament.  I let him simmer for several weeks then finally came clean at Camilla's one morning.  He said “I will get you back if it’s the last thing I do.”  I know he is up in heaven now making plans to play a friendly joke on me.     I always looked forward to my time spent with Horace and the Haney family.  RIP Horace.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Mr.  Horace Haney passing.He was a great Man and He  will be truly missed and will always be remembered.😭😭😭. I always Remember every time he saw Me in Camellias Restaurant hes  asking me if i dance Zumba again.and i answered No More dance..were busy.and he just smiled..Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I met him as a sub on their mail route decades ago. Every day I'd stop at the store and they'd all be there, cutting up and telling tall tales. He and Shirley both picked at me and gave me a hard time, but I loved every minute of it. They were always willing to lend me a hand when I'd have jeep problems. Loved and respected ALL their family. All of them such wonderful people. My condolences to you all.

A man of his word and an example to live by

One of the finest men I have ever known.    Mr. Horace was a man of his word for sure.    I was blessed for getting to share some time and some stories with him.

What a great man and friend. I remember being that skinny kid at Tanner High School that got the pop on the head from that big class ring in 1959. Several fun rabbit hunting trips, even throwing my hat in the air and filling it full of holes. Lots of laughs and even a few National Guard stories.
Sandra and I send our prayers and love to the Haney family during this difficult time.

My Heart goes out to you and yours Beverly. May the Loving hand of grace ease your loss and grief but also uplift in your Heart all the wonderful memories.

So many fond memories of Horace!  He always had a joke to tell!  I will always love my time at the tractor pulls sitting and talking to Horace.  Whenever I would go in for breakfast at the cross roads I would look for him!  He always had a smile and a big bear hug ready and never missed a moment to tease my husband about something!  My love and prayers to all of the Haney family!

Good man from a good family and a tremendous business mind. We had many laughs together. God is good!

I have known the Haney's for a long time. They farm the land that my granddaddy, William C (Bill) Dougherty owned, and my family and I live on today. I always love watching the tractors work and hearing the silos run on the Haney Farm always lets you know they have been working hard. They are all such kind people and Horace will definitely be missed by us and so many others. All of the family are in our thoughts and prayers. 

So sorry to hear this, such a good man and great family. Our kids remember him at Marie’s Country store, always picking with them when he saw them. He knew everyone & everyone knew him. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for all. 

When I was first introduced to Mr Haney he said something that reminded me of my Daddy. We were wiring the new gin. It was bright and sunny that day and I had my shades on. Ricky introduced me to him and I started talking. He cut me off and said “ I can’t see your eyes boy so I don’t know what your saying”. Once I lifted my shades so he could see my eyes we carried on a good conversation. He would come to the gin while it was under construction and sit and watch. He told me that his dream before he passed was to see a new gin built on that property. I’m proud Luke Electric was a part of making his dream come true. I think of him as a fine straight forward man and it was my pleasure to get to know him. Please accept our sincere condolences and fond memories from me and the whole Luke Electric team.

Horace was a good friend and a great farmer. I had a lot of good times at Haney Farms cooking catfish, steaks,and chickens. Horace was always cracking a joke and if it was around July he would always supply plenty of sweet corn for everyone. He will be missed by many as well as myself.

I am so sorry to hear of Horace passing.  Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time.  

I remember him as being a funny person always wanted to cut up I remember him coming to our shop  when I worked for Robert Lauderdale at Lauderdale farms helping cook stew and joking and having a good time he is up there with Robert now they both r cutting up and playing cards to the family my prayers are with y’all 

My thoughts and prayers for all the family. Horace was a good buddy. We always had a lot of fun when we got together, which used to be very often. We were dove hunting once, and Horace said, John throw your hat in the air, i bet you i can hit it. i said ok, but you ain't hit a dove all day, i am not worried about any harm coming to my hat. i threw it up as hard as i could, waiting for him to shoot. He did, but after it landed on the ground, not once, but 3 times. Everybody thought it was funny except me. I commenced to chew him out and he said, i did not say i was going to hit it in the air, still laughing. He got me a new hat latter. His passing makes me very sad.  R.I.P.  'BIG DADDY'

Horace Haney was a GIANT in the Tanner Community.  He and his family have been dear friends of my family for over 60 years! My condolences to the family.  He will certainly be missed by many. 


Horace was one of a kind. He was always so encouraging to me and all our work with Tanner FFA. I will always be grateful for his kindness shown to me over the years. Horace, Beverly Andrea and Matt were like family all these years. Love you guys and we are praying for y’all. 

Horace was such a funny, kind soul. He would always make sure to take the time and speak to Greyson and it always made him feel so “big”. He is missed already. 

Horace was a good friend who l loved dearly. He loved his family more than anything . He was a Great Man🙏

Horace was devoted to his family, especially his grandsons.
