Tony was born to Norman and Shelby Jean Balch of July 23, 1956, in Huntsville, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his mother in October of this year. Tony is survived by his wife, Patrice Williams Balch; his son, Matthew Tate Maples; his daughter, Lesley Anne Balch; granddaughter, Haley Grace Sierra; father, Norman Wendel Balch; brothers, Henry Keith (Linda Key) and Brett Bruce Balch.
Tony graduated in 1974 from Huntsville High School. He enlisted with the U.S. Army and served 6 years as an Infantryman II Bravo (TOW Missile Gunnar). After active duty\reserves, Tony worked full time while also taking college courses. He graduated from Athens State with a B.S. in Business in 1983. The majority of Tony’s work history was with the City of Huntsville ending with title of Superintendent of Parks (retiring in 2004).
Tony loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family and Alabama football.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday December 13, 2024, at McConnell Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 P.M.
Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M.
Mr. Tony Balch will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery.
