Elaine was educated at Prospect Heights School in Brooklyn, NY. Elaine was married twice and with the first union to the late Hubert Robert Shepherd, God blessed them with six children; predeceased Robert I. Shepherd, Michael E. Shepherd, survived by Eileen S. Shepherd, James A. Shepherd, Elaina S. Shepherd and Lorraine R. Shepherd.
Elaine worked for Ideal Toy Company, Jacobi & Bender Watch Bend Company, and then retired from the Telephone Company in 1985. After retiring she began to travel the world, hitting places like Germany, Hong Kong, Poland, Australia, and more than two-thirds of the United States, just to name a few. In her travels some of the favorite places included Las Vegas, Foxwoods, Empire Casinos and Resort World. Also she enjoyed going on shopping trips.
Elaine enjoyed picnics with her children and grand-children, swimming, punch ball, handball, plays and concerts. She strongly believed in exposing her children to cultural events and activities.
Elaine was a resident of Woodside for 57 plus years, in which she touched many lives.
Elaine is survived by her step-mother Mattie Lee Coleman, her siblings Irving R. Coleman, Mary Ford, Irma Bullock and Oscar, and her granddaughter Jasmine. She is predeceased by her siblings Bernice Overton, Joan Hall and Mickey Perry. Also predeceased by her sons Robert I. Shepherd and Michael E. Shepherd. Elaine leaves to cherish her fond memories; her children Eileen, James, Elaina and Lorraine. Her daughter in law Gail, her grandchildren Adyna, Jymal, Nancy, Jamiilah, Chante, Toraya, James Jr., Stephen, Essence, Terril, Michael, Jamel and Jasmine. 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews other family members and friends.
