Richard Keith Struble passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 16th, 2022.
Richard was born on November 17th, 1944 to Frank and Louise in Calgary, AB. He grew up in Claybank, Kelowna, and then on the family farm in Bayard. In high school, he was enrolled in St. Peter's College at Meunster and then graduated from Briercrest.
After graduation, Richard took one year of University which allowed him to start his first teaching jobs (Crane Valley & Turtleford). In 1968, he married Cheryl Hagley and together they had five children: Jody, Jason, Devon, Kendra, and Rick. After completing his education degree, he moved his family back to Crane Valley in the fall of 1975 where he returned to teach and then become the principal until he retired in 1997. In addition to teaching, Richard purchased some farmland south of Crane Valley in 1978 and moved the family to live and work there in 1981.
Richard was an active member of his community. As a teacher, he spent numerous years coaching curling, organizing exchange trips, and coordinating drama productions. As a volunteer, he spent countless hours giving his time to the curling rink as well as filling various roles in many service groups such as the Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus, and Sask Sports and Recreation.
Richard loved being around people. Whether it be working a fundraising bingo, on an ice fishing trip with friends, or frequenting auction sales, he looked forward to spending time visiting with everyone along the way. He always had a story to tell and wanted to hear theirs as well. Another interest of his was sports. No matter what the season, he always had a game on the TV or radio. Finally, his greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. He made sure to have a special bond with each and every one of them and will be deeply missed.
Anyone who met Richard knew that he was the most loving father, husband, son, and brother a family could ask for. He was predeceased by his parents Frank & Louise Struble, brother David Struble, mother-in-law Gertie Hagley, father-in-law Frank Hagley, brothers-in-law Kevin Tourand, Gary Hagley, and William Rambow, and sisters-in-law Marlene Struble and Lynn Hagley.
