Arthur Sabourin, of Lisieux, SK, passed away on April 26, 2017 at Assiniboia Union Hospital. He was born in Scout Lake, SK on August 27, 1935. After leaving Scout Lake, the family moved to Rockglen for a short time. From there they moved to Lisieux where he remained until the time of his passing. Growing up, Art went to school in Lisieux. He helped on the family farm, worked in the shop with his Dad, moved buildings and operated his own excavation business. During this time, Art managed his own farm for about 40 years. In December, 1955, Arthur married his sweetheart, Cecile Lamontagne. From this union, they had seven children. Arthur and Cecile recently celebrated their 61st Anniversary this past December. Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Cecile, children: Paulette (Cliff), Gisele, Val (Rick), Pat (Annette), Marc (Ronda), Mike, Roger (Miriah); 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Arthur was predeceased by parents, George & Yvette, brother Rick and infant siblings. He is also survived by siblings: Grace McGibbon, Jeanne Lamontagne, Therese Collins, and Marguerite Klein. His passions included music and woodworking but most of all spending time with his family. Art will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK with Father Juanito Vargus, Celebrant. Altar servers were Denis Emond and Richard Emond. Readers were Darlene MacQuarrie and Joanne Faye. Tribute was presented by Roger Lamontagne and Art Collins. Music ministry was led by Johnny & Maureen Sabourin and Shane Sabourin. Urn Bearer was son Mike. Interment at St. Therese’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lisieux, SK. In lieu of flowers, Art’s family requests all donations be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
