Arthur Graves of Lafleche, SK passed away May 1, 2018 at Foyer d’Youville Home, Gravelbourg, SK. Art was born November 7, 1925 on the family homestead south of McCord, SK. He grew up in the area and attended Pebble Hill School. He married Ruby Uteck in 1955. Art worked for the CPR and moved to McCord where he was a mechanic. He moved to Lafleche in May, 1961 to work for Poliquin’s Garage then Erickson Motors. In the summer of 1965 they moved to Gravelbourg, returning back to Lafleche in 1968 to work at Hutchinson’s Garage. Since 1990, Ruby and Art owned and operated ‘Art’s Fix It Service’ in Lafleche. A few of Arthur’s interests included woodworking, drawing and painting, hunting and fishing. Art was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ida (Swanson) Graves and sisters Rose (Norman) Ponto and Jessie (Art) Rockey. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruby; four children: Laurel (Jim) Sokolowski of East Selkirk, MN, Rose (Gordon) Lawrence of Neville, SK, Allen of Swift Current, SK, and Caroline Graves of Regina, SK. He was a doting grandfather to eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law to Dale (Sharon) Uteck and Don (Paula (dec’d)) Uteck, and uncle and friend to many. Graveside service was held Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Lafleche Municipal Cemetery, Lafleche, Sk. The Reverend Janelle Shaw officiated. Eulogy was delivered by son, Allen.
