Art was born November 12, 1932 in Regina, son of Reinhart and Kari (Lone) Bakke.
Art went to school at Lisieux Protestant and Assiniboia. In high school Art enjoyed wood working and spending time with friends. During this time Art was a custodian at the Assiniboia Court House and a pin setter at the bowling alley. Art quit high school in grade 11 to go to work for L.I.D, a road construction crew. Later he moved back to the family farm and became a grain buyer at Lisieux and Rockglen.
Through the years he was regularly involved with the surrounding communities by being on boards such as the Scout Lake Co-op and the Rockglen Credit Union and teaching fire arm safety. Art found strength in his Church and politics. He filled his time with many hobbies including carpentry, bowling, cards, hunting, fishing, gardening, travel and spending time with family and friends.
Art is survived by his mother Kari (Lone) Bakke, his wife, Dorellen (nee Larson), his children, Joy (Ken) Hanson, Allan (Krista) Bakke, Carol (Keith) Cairns, Marvin (Candais) Bakke, Dale (Lori) Bakke, Steven (Sheryn) Bakke, 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Art was predeceased by his son Trevor, father Reinhart, brother Andres and sister Jeanette.
Funeral Service was held Friday, February 10, 2012 in Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, SK. Pastor Arden Barden officiated. Pallbearers were Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Donations in Memory of Art may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society of SK. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK.
