Paul W. Kriegler, 102, joined his beautiful wife with our Lord in Heaven on September 26, 2024. He passed peacefully near his home in Hanover, Virginia. A celebration of his life is planned for October 8, 2024, at Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel at 1pm.
Paul proudly served during World War II in the American 8th Air Force as a Crew Chief/Top Turret Gunner on B-17s. While stationed in England, he met his British Bride and was married at the height of the war. He volunteered for a second tour of duty to remain by her side and protect her family.
Paul was a master designer and craftsman of precious metals and gems. A Certified Gemologist with the American Gem Society, he was awarded first prize in DeBeer's Design Competition for his beautiful design, the Miner. He served many customers in the Petersburg and Richmond area prior to his retirement.
His main joy in life was his lovely bride, Doreen, who preceded him in death in 2021 after enjoying 77 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Joseph B. Sheets. Paul is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Patricia Kriegler-Elliott and her husband, Tom, and Karan Kriegler Sheets; grandsons Daniel P. Sheets, Andrew J. Sheets and Edward N. Sheets and their families. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Signal Hill Cemetery in Hanover following his Celebration of Life.
