Nancy Leake Munden, age 86, of Ashland, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Nancy was born in Charlottesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Munden; parents, Ralph and Margaret Leake; and brother, Thomas Leake. Nancy is survived by her brother, Milton Leake (Susan); children, Cathy Crews (Fred), Milton Munden; grandchildren, Charles Munden (Lisa), Emily Renfro (Stephen), Timothy Crews (Jessica), Fred Crews (Dawn), and Alyse Cecil (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Audriana, Roman, Noah, Holdyn, Easton Cecil and Morgan Crews and Mollie Burke. A life member of the Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad, Nancy dedicated much of her time and energy to serving others. She was also an active member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, demonstrating her commitment to her community. Nancy's professional life was marked by her many years of dedicated service to the Hanover County School Board. She served as an elder at Ashland Christian Church and shared her musical talents as a member of the church choir. Nancy found joy in simple pleasures such as visiting the beach, singing, reading, and completing word searches. Her warm presence and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Ashland Christian Church, 301 S. James St. Ashland, VA 23005. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, 11310 Hanover Ave., Ashland, VA 23005. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's honor to Ashland Christian Church, 301 S. James St. Ashland, VA 23005.
