He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Eula Mae Stanley, son Todd Stanley (Candace), and his grandson, Owen Stanley. Additionally, he is survived by his beloved sister in laws Lillian Crawley, Bertie Crawley, Elizabeth (Twinkle) Crawley, Jean Massey and brother-in-law, Earl Crawley.
He was preceded in death by his siblings James (Jim) Stanley Jr., Mildred Powell, Maury Stanley, and Jean Hockaday.
A lifelong Montpelier resident, he retired from Richfood after 32 years. Eldridge was a hardworking, kindhearted family man. He was an avid gardener who loved to be outdoors, Eldridge loved NASCAR and watching his grandson play baseball, which quickly became his favorite pastime. Eldridge was a member of St. Peter’s Methodist Church.
Family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA, February 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. with services to be held February 7th at 11 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home with burial to follow at St. Peter's Methodist Church, 15599 Mountain Rd, Montpelier, VA 23192. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Methodist Church.
