Cheryl Frasher Herbert, 59, of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 5, 1957 in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of Charles and Jeanette Frasher of Waynesboro, Virginia. She was a graduate of Hermitage High School in 1975. Cheryl received her BS in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1979 and had a successful career as a real estate appraiser.
On September 6, 1997 she married the love of her life, Michael Herbert of Ashland, Virginia. When they started a family, Cheryl devoted her life to being a full time mom. She was passionate, and unrelenting in advocating for the needs of her children, Mitchell and Jackson. One of her friends described her as a “Warrior Mom.” Her greatest success is her loving family.
Cheryl was an accomplished watercolorist and acrylic artist. She was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering her time as a Reading Olympian Coach at Gandy Elementary and Liberty Middle Schools. She also enjoyed the art of cooking and was working on a cookbook at the time of her death. Cheryl was an active member of Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God.
Cheryl is survived by her 2 sons, Mitchell and Jackson, and pre-deceased by an infant daughter, Charlotte. Cheryl was surrounded by a large and loving family consisting of 5 siblings and their spouses: Kathy (Doug) Wright, Chuck (Janet) Frasher, Jan (Keith) Clance, Melodie (Larrie) Tutwiler and Katie Frasher. Nephews and nieces include Ben, Christy, Kayla, Aiden, Ryan, Lauren, Trent and Cole.
Full of love and forgiveness, Cheryl lived her life in the light of God.
Family, friends and others whose lives Cheryl touched are invited to Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N Parham Rd., Richmond, VA, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 for a Celebration of Life Service to reminisce and honor the life of sweet, loving Cheryl. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Bon Secours Hospice.
