Alice Rolfe Johnson

The daughter of a southern tobacco farmer, Alice was the third daughter of Benjamin Giles Rolfe and Zelle Wootton Rolfe, born on September 14,1934. She was raised at "Eureka" in Mecklenburg County, VA. She graduated from Boydton High School in 1951 and completed coursework at Phillips Business School in Lynchburg, VA. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Mecklenburg County School Board until moving to Richmond, Va, where she worked for Royal Globe Insurance Company. In 1960, she left the business world to be a stay at home mom. Her years were filled with travel to ballet lessons, giggling children, camping with Girl Scouts, sewing projects, church activities and garden club. She returned to work in 1983 as a Human Resources clerk for Best Products Corporate Office, where she worked until her retirement. Alice was extremely artistic, a good seamstress, avid reader and excellent friend. She spent her retirement enjoying activities with her daughter and grandchildren, lots of novels, feeding her birds and squirrels and lunches with her best friends around her kitchen table.

Preceding her in death are her parents, sisters and brother in laws Mae R Thomas (Stuart) and Lena R Thomas (Hobson) and a beloved nephew H. Timothy Thomas.

Left to remember her always are her daughter Rebecca Johnson Glazebrook (Johnny), grandchildren Leighanna G Hicks (Kyle) and Thornton Glazebrook (Brianna), great grandchildren Easton Cole and Parker Ann Hicks and Lane Thornton and Beau Wilson Glazebrook, and a dear nephew S W "Sonny" Thomas and family.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August, 13, 2024 at the Boydton Presbyterian Cemetery.
