Rita was born on June 24, 1944 in Wooster, Ohio to Dr. Clarence “C.W.” and Nora (Frye) Sprowls. Rita graduated from Wooster High School and received her bachelors degree from Houghton University in New York. She completed graduate studies at The Sorbonne in Paris, France. An advocate for young children, Rita retired after 28 years as a French teacher at Crestview Schools, a career she truly loved. After retiring, she became a substitute teacher at Ashland High School. A continuous learner, Rita was always studying French and loved anything to do with France and French culture. She was an avid collector of flow bleu dishes and loved to scroll on Facebook, connecting with friends and relatives.
Rita is survived by her son, Chanson (Janet) Noether; two granddaughters, Meghan and Katie Noether, who were the treasures in her life; her brother, Richard (Billie) Sprowls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Rex W. Sprowls, Roberta McCombs, and Dr. Donald Roger Sprowls.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ashland, 308 Claremont Ave. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm.
