Marion Kathleen Sauder

Marion Kathleen Sauder (née Boyes) went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2022, after a long life serving God, her family, and her community. Marion was born December 25, 1929 in Sundridge, Ontario, Canada, to the late Thomas Arthur (Art) Boyes and Edna Beulah Howse Boyes. Marion obtained her nursing degree from the Sarnia General Hospital School of Nursing, and was married to Dr. Paul J. Sauder for 34 years, until his death in 1985.

Marion was active in community life in the Ashland area for over 60 years including Christian Women’s Club, Ashland Christian School, Ashland Retired Nurses Association, and was a member of Grace Church.

Marion is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Miller (Wilmington, OH) and Sunny Riffle (Ashland, OH), sons Ted (Amy) Sauder (Delaware, OH) and Paul (Ann) Sauder (Las Vegas, NV); and was a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Marjory Boyes Parkes (Ontario, Canada), and her brother Allen (Frances) Boyes (Ontario, Canada); brother-in-law Eugene Sauder (Scottsdale, AZ); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Beyond her immediate family, Marion was “Mom” to over two decades of students from Nigeria, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and China, who lived in her home while attending Ashland Theological Seminary or Ashland University.

Marion was also preceded in death by her daughters Pam Sauder-Stewart, Jackie Sauder, her grandson Jesiah Baum-Sauder, a sister, Shirley Petrie, two brothers, Ted Boyes and Barry Boyes and family friend Doyle Riffle.

Marion ministered her love for God and others in her final years by encouraging, singing, leading Bible studies, and reading to many residents at Lutheran Village.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Grace Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church conducted by Pastor Norm Johnson. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
