Elmo "Pop" Dewayne Branson passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017. Son of the late Arvil and Ida (nee Mundy) Branson. Dear husband of Shirley J. (nee Grisham) Branson. Elmo was the youngest of 9 children, born and raised in Cuba, Mo. He attended Flat River Jr. College, where he fell in love with Shirley Grisham. He was in the army at Fort Jackson, South Carolina - the 101st Airborne. Elmo and Shirley were married on the army base on June 18, 1955. He graduated from University of Missouri at Columbia in 1959 with a degree in engineering and worked as a civil engineer his entire career. They raised their kids in Florissant and Arnold, Missouri. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Arnold. He loved his church, and he also enjoyed fast pitch softball, ping pong, driving his tractors and lawnmowers, and taking his wife and family to eat at Wendy's. His greatest joy in his retirement years were spending time with his family and friends, especially his 13 wonderful grandkids. Beloved father of Kent Branson, Kevin (Rita) Branson and Kimberly (Robert) Stovall. He is the brother of Glenn (Anna) Branson and the late Olga Frederickson, Melvin Branson, Zelma Woodruff, Evelyn Pinnell, Mamie Lee Branson, Ina Murdick and Alvin Branson.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 4, 2017, 9:00-11:00am, at Hope Vineyard Church, 2923 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63125. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be at Shepherd Hills Cemetery, Barnhart, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations to Birthright (Birthright.org) or to Hope Vineyard Church (www.vineyard-stl.org).
