She was born September 15, 1930 in Hoquiam, Grays Harbor County, Washington, the second of eight children born to Lincoln and Florence Bublitz Snyder. Winifred attended high school in Hoquiam and worked at the local sawmill. On May 7, 1949, she married Glenn E. Sanders in Hoquiam, WA. After raising her five children in California and Washington state, she and her husband served as missionaries in Romania and in the outskirts of Moscow, Russia between 1994 and 2004. Since her husband’s passing in 2010 she has lived in the Stillaguamish Senior apartments in Smokey Point area of Arlington WA and was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Marysville, WA. Winifred was known for her wonderful hugs, smiles and love of jigsaw puzzles.
Winifred is survived by four of her five children; Linda Blais and Jacquie Aumiller of Des Moines, WA; Larry Sanders, Antioch, CA; and Ginger Slattery, Oak Harbor, WA; as well as 18 grandchildren, over 20 great grandchildren, and several great-great children; she has two surviving brothers, John Snyder of Aberdeen, WA and Larry Snyder, Molalla, WA and two sisters Sally Jackson and Judy Pepper who both live in California. She is preceded in death byer her husband, Glenn E. Sanders, son, Jerry, and three sisters Marion Jones, Bonnie Anderson and Donna Buren.
Viewing will be at Weller Funeral Home, 327 MacLeod Ave, Arlington, WA, Friday December 20th from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21st at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, 14215 Smokey Point Blvd, Marysville, WA. Interment will be Thursday, December 26th, 1:15 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent WA.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Missions Program of their mother’s home church, Fellowship Baptist Church, Marysville, WA.
