The oldest of six children she was born at home in Fortson, WA. Shirley graduated from Darrington High School in 1953. She married Bob Lewis in 1956 and built their home on the Sauk Prairie where they raised their sons Bobby and Mike. They loved hosting family and friends, for those fortunate enough to have been loved by her it’s likely you left her home with a full stomach and good conversation. The special loves of her life were her grandchildren; Tazzmarie, Tanielle, Chase and Dylan. Shirley doted on them with all her heart. She often bragged about how proud she was of each of them.
Shirley drove a school bus for 30 years. She always had funny stories about her kids and her eyes sparkled as she told the tales. After retirement she became a prominent and proud member of the Darrington School Board. In 2006, Bob and Shirley moved to Camano Island. For the past four years Shirley had been in the care of A Holistic Adult Family Home, where she was known for her sassy personality and witty comments. The family would like to express their gratitude to those who took such good care of her.
Shirley is survived by her sons; Bobby (Kim), Mike, grandchildren; Tazzmarie (Ryan) Hanks, Tanielle (Jesse) Parks, Chase Lewis, great grandchildren; Robby & Ty Hanks, Peyton & Myles Parks, sisters; Alice Schireman, Fran (Regan) Abbott, Sally Wagner, Michelle (Ray) Vincent; and brother Lucky (Cindy) White, long time friend Nancy Snyder, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
