She was born in Mohegan, WV to Frank and Mary (Betro) Ross, who had emigrated from Italy. She worked at McDowell County National Bank until her marriage to Gene McCoy in January 1951. The family settled in Arlington in 1960, where they raised six children and she became deeply involved in the community, actively participating in Boy and Girl Scouts and the PTA, to name a few. She was especially devoted to her beloved St. Agnes Catholic Church, where for decades she was responsible for floral displays, counting the collections, organizing the annual bazaars, and more.
Mary Ann McCoy is preceded in death by her husband, as well as her brothers James, Samuel, and Joseph Ross. She is survived by her six children: Ross (Daniella), Drew (Amy Aquino), Jean Phillips (Pete), Jane Cherney, Karen, and Rachel, as well as her sister Frances Jackson, grandchildren Alan, Nicholas, Anthony, Colt, Levi, and Dylan, along with great-grandchildren Ava and Zeke. Mary Ann will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends and neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann at St. Agnes Church (Arlington VA) on Saturday, April 17th at 11AM and burial at Columbia Gardens. All are welcome to attend an outdoor reception at her home in Arlington, starting at 2:30PM.
