Hilda Rita Rodrigues

Mrs. Hilda Rita Rodrigues of Arlington, VA, left us for the pearly gates of heaven on October 2nd, 2021 surrounded by her close family and friends at the Virginia Hospital Center. While she is no longer physically with us, her loving spirit will always be around us. At age 89, she is survived by her daughter Janine Rodrigues (spouse Ron Hager), her son Irving Rodrigues and her three grandchildren Sydney (daughter of Janine), Mackenzie (daughter of Janine), and Cameron (son of Irving). Hilda was born in Hyderabad, India, on 21-July-1932, to Mrs. Lavinia Pereira and Mr. Theophilus Pereira. She married Mr. Colin Rodrigues on 3-Jan-1954, and they started their married life in Karachi, Pakistan. Colin and Hilda immigrated to the US from Pakistan in August 1974 with their two children Irving and Janine, and settled in Arlington, VA, to live their American dream. Being a career-focused independent person, she landed her dream job at the World Bank, where she had a very successful career till retirement. Colin and Hilda always offered an open door, a home away from home, lots of laughs, and countless great meals to everyone they interacted with. Hilda was a woman with multiple talents who enjoyed playing the piano, singing and also produced some very memorable drawings and pictures in both charcoal and color. Everyone who knew her recognized that within that petite stature lived a giant in character, unfailingly kind, patient, empathetic, generous, courageous, and uplifted everyone around her with her contagious smile and always positive attitude. Eternal rest grant unto Hilda, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
