Edith Lillian Macaluso was born on May 27, 1927 in Somerville, MA to Joseph and Josephine Macaluso and graduated from Somerville High School. She married Charles C. Elder, in 1951 and moved to Medford where they lived for most of their lives. Throughout the years, she worked in many capacities for many companies and government agencies including the Medford Police as a crossing guard, the First National Bank of Boston, the Charlestown Navy Yard, and most notably at the Food and Drug Administration where she retired as an Accounting Technician after more than 20 years.
More than anything, Edie loved spending time with her family. Sunday dinners at Ma’s house, summers at the Cape Cod cottage, holidays or really any other reason to get together. Her laughs with her sisters were infectious and there was always a joke ready with her brothers. Edie and her husband Charlie raised their sons in a happy home with all of the extended family always close by. Later in life, she was the most doting and loving Nana to her two grandchildren with whom she loved spending as much time as possible. She attended many of Jacob’s and Jamie’s sporting and artistic activities over the years, always watching with pride and with love.
