Wanda was married to her loving husband, Durwood, for 67 years and the two genuinely enjoyed their time together; they loved life. She was the proud mother of Tony Glenn and Tina Pace, both of Crowley. Wanda was born in Frost, TX on January 18, 1923 and married Durwood in 1946 at the age of 23 when he returned from serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After the war, the two settled in Hillsboro, where they owned a furniture store, later moving to Fort Worth, Arlington and Mansfield, where they owned many small businesses over the years. Wanda made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on August 13, 1954 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Wanda & Durwood attended several churches during their 67-year marriage, but truly cherished their time at Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson from 2006 until his death in 2014.
Wanda served in various community organizations over the years when she lived in Arlington & Mansfield, Den Mother for Cub Scouts & Girl Scouts, and member of the Mansfield Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a Woman’s International Organization. She loved playing bridge at the Walnut Creek Country Club, where she & Durwood were Charter Members. She enjoyed hosting Party Bridge Games at close personal friend’s homes up until she was 85.
She and Durwood were also proud foster parents for over 30 years for the Tarrant County Child Protective Services. They helped countless children who were in need and they loved & cherished every minute of it. When they moved to Crowley in 2006, Wanda found great joy working with children at the Crowley Public Library for weekly story time and summer reading programs.
