Thomas Russell Hendricks, 74, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. Born April 28, 1939, in Atlantic City, N.J., he was the only son of Margaret "Peggy" Hendricks and Russell P. Hendricks. Raised by his mother and grandfather, Thomas Walsh, he graduated from Holy Spirit High School and later in life from St. Phillip's College, San Antonio. Russ served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He met his beautiful Irish bride, Bridget, at the USO in San Antonio and married in 1960. His "second" career was with the Corps of Engineers, from which he retired in 2005. Russ loved to make people smile and spend time with his friends and family. He loved animals, flying model airplanes and helicopters, reading and his grandkids. He was a member of Good Sam's and Escapees RV Clubs.
Survivors: His wife of 53 years, Bridget; their daughters, Noel and Peggy Barton, Kirby and Maureen Smith, and Paul and Patti Dereadt; stepdaughter, Cheryl Osborn; grandchildren, Andrea, Rachel, Clint, Madison, Sidney, Reagan, Sailor and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Julian' and many other loving relatives in the British Isles.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home.
Memorials: American Heart Association, in lieu of flowers.
