He was the third of four children: Vernon, Velma, Roy, and Charles. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Sunset. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1945 when his father, an employee of the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad, was transferred there. There he met his future wife Virginia Faye Drews when she and her sister Thelma went on a double date with Roy and his friend Bill Vaughn. Roy and Virginia particularly enjoyed fresh and saltwater fishing, water skiing, golf, traveling, and life on Eagle Mountain Lake.
Despite his age he remained engaged in his business affairs, church, and with the people around him. Unfortunately he did not react well to the Covid vaccine and declined rapidly in his last months. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, older son James (Danny), sister Velma Neece, and brother Charles Neece. He is survived by his brother Vernon Neece, James’ son Kevin Neece and his daughter Lindsey, and his younger son Gerald Neece and his daughters Sarah and Rachel.
He was proud of his business career, but felt privileged to have served the people of Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church.
A visitation for Roy will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 FM 156, Haslet, TX 76052. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 FM 156, Haslet, TX 76052.
