Ronny Woods, 75, passed away April 3, 2024, at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, after a brief battle with cancer. Ronny was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, on July 31, 1948, to George and Palecey Woods. Ronny grew up in Arlington, Texas, and attended Arlington High School where he was a star athlete on the varsity baseball team. He graduated in 1966 and went on to attend Blinn College on a baseball scholarship. His days at Blinn were cut short when he received the Army’s call to duty to serve his country in Vietnam. He served his tour bravely and valiantly in-country as an infantryman before coming home to complete his time of service at Fort Hood.
Years later, God’s divine intervention in a snow storm brought Ronny into the path (literally) of Denise Prasek. Denise became his wife on July 11, 1987, and God continued to guide them through 36 years of marriage blessed by true love and soul-mate friendship. Ronny had two daughters, Beverly James and Kathryn Parr, who he loved dearly and was proud of beyond measure. They were special rays of love in his life that brought joy and happiness to his heart. Ronny was also blessed with two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. And last, but not the least, of the joys in his life were his dogs that he loved and adored, Doc, Rhett, Brother, Sister and Bree.
All who knew Ronny loved him and knew the special person that he was. He made lots of lasting friendships over the years, many during his 40 year career as a manufacturer’s representative for Progress Lighting and subsequently as an account manager for Elong International. He also cherished his church family at Christ Chapel Bible Church. Other than spending time with family and friends, Ronny loved his home and the outdoors and worked diligently making his yard and landscape picture perfect. He continued to enjoy baseball and was a big fan of the Texas Rangers but no sports team held a bigger place in his heart than his beloved OU Sooners. His other lifetime favorite things included Whataburger, Dickey’s BBQ, Mac’s chicken fried steak and Twinkies.
Ronny is survived by his wife, Denise Woods of Fort Worth; his daughter, Beverly James of Euless; grandchildren, Christopher Parr and wife Ally of Willow Park and Madi Benavides of Arlington; great grandchildren, Brooks, Hayes, Harrison and Khi; brother, Charlie Woods of Arlington; sister, Linda Engle of Jenks, Oklahoma.
Ronny was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Parr; father, George Woods; mother, Palecey Woods; brother, George Woods.
