Ronn was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 23, 1948 to Joe Randal and Dorothy Edith (Martell) Wilson. The first of three siblings, Ronn was a hard worker who spent his life caring for and providing for his family.
After graduating from L. D. Bell High School in 1966, Ronn went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a Radarman 3rd class on the Bonhomme Richard Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam War. On a short leave home, he walked into his parents’ house, and met his sister’s best friend who turned out to be the love of his life. By 1972, Ronn and Marcia were married. The two settled down in Hurst, Texas and began building their life together. In time, they would have three children, Paul, James, and Lara. Ronnie was a loving and protective father. He supported his children fiercely and pushed them to pack their parachute. He took great pride in the life he and Marcia built together in their 50 years of marriage. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
With Marcia by his side, Ronn worked his way through college as a truck driver. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Wesleyan University. He later went on to become a CPA and obtained his MBA from Southern Methodist University.
At the early age of 11, Ronn started his first job pushing an ice cream cart and quickly learned the value of a hard day’s work. This foundation of hard work and determination carried him throughout his life and, combined with his passion for education, lead to a successful career. Ronn started off as a CPA at various accounting firms and eventually found his way to property tax. Property Tax was a natural fit for Ronn who often referred to it as “The Social Tax”. His natural ability to connect with others allowed him to thrive in the field and make many lifelong friends in the process. He was a Director of Property Tax at Southwestern Bell, where he worked for over 20 years. He later joined the tax department at BNSF Railway, where he retired in 2015.
Ronn was a car enthusiast, especially when it came to Shelby Mustangs. He could often be found reading car magazines or watching tv shows dedicated to car restorations. He loved driving his Saleen while listening to Eric Clapton and he was never more in his element than at a classic car show.
Ronnie will be remembered as a devoted husband to Marcia, a caring father to his children, Paul (Cagla) Wilson, James (Jamie) Wilson, and Lara (Kameron) Ingrando, and a loving grandfather to his grandchildren; Jonathan, Leah Grace, Mira, Katherine, and Caroline. He will also be remembered with love by his friends, his brother Gary, his mother in law Wanda, his sister-in-law Pat, his brother-in-law David, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Debbie Harter. Ronald's legacy of hard work, perseverance, and love for his family were an inspiration to all who knew him and will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.
