Born on January 12, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ted and Laura Smith, Robert went on to accomplish many great things in his life. Robert or Bob, as most knew him, was a natural talker, never having met a stranger, which lead him to be successful in a variety of sales positions over the years. He was a family man who took great joy in his 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Bob was known as a good man, who stood by his word and who deeply loved his family.
Bob an adventurous world traveler, exploring the world hand in hand with his soul mate Audrey, he often said their frequent trips were to ward off travel withdrawals as both enjoyed staying on the go and exploring the world together.
He was also a connoisseur of fine collectibles and had a love of watches and hats. He attended many gatherings of collectors hoping to find the next treasure to add to his personal collection. He loved the color red, especially when associated with fast cars and had a great appreciation for music and dancing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Laura.
Robert is survived by the love of his life and partner of 37 years, Audrey Van Buren; his children, Tereasa Smith White (David), Robert L. Smith, II (Kathy), Patrick C. Sauls (Jessica), Amy Smith Dillon (Justin), Theodore “Ted” R. Smith, II; his grandchildren, Joshua Wild, Caleb Carter (Theresa), Cody Carter, Robert L. Smith, III, Amanda L. Smith, Kenda J. Smith Saenz (Obed), Alan Sauls (Jennifer), Christopher Sauls, Randall Nimon, Lane Dillon, Kaitlyn Furey (Josh), Hunter Dillon, John Kirby, Mackenzie Davis (Dominic Rabel); his great grandchildren, AJ, Jaxon, Hannah, Trinity, Olivia, Christopher, Emery, Zackery, Aiden, Logan, Tate, Dakota, Eva, Ivy, Emery Jane; his brother, James Smith (Gretchen); his sister, Christia Valentino (Thomas); as well as many numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be missed dearly.
A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A closed casket funeral service will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a committal service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, Texas at 2:00 p.m.
