Richard “Dick” Thomas Albrecht , age 89 passed away on December 5, 2022 in Mansfield, Texas holding his beloved wife’s hand. He was born on October 11, 1933 in Queens, NY, son of Henry & Elizabeth Krall Albrecht. He married his sweetheart Leta Jane O’Brien on November 10, 1956. They recently celebrated 66 years of marriage together.
Dick proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Korean War on the LST1032 USS Monmouth County. He worked for the Boy Scouts of America as a scout executive. He also worked as an Insurance agent, and finally as a finance specialist for JCPenney where he met many of his “nifty fifty” friends with whom he traveled the world after retirement. Dick loved to serve his country, his home state of Florida as a certified emergency response team (CERT) member, and president of the HOA community in which he lived. He also served tirelessly in the Republican Party of Pasco County in supporting local and federal government elections. He had a heart of gold and loved to help others.
Dick is survived by his wife, Leta Jane, children Richard M. (Christy), Gerald T. (Linda), Susan Guzman (Miguel), cherished family members Michael Cairns (Mary), grandchildren Ian Albrecht (Melissa), Samantha Albrecht, Nick Perez , Kailey Birau (Michael), Jerry Olivier, Marco Guzman; great grandchildren Christian Vega, Grace Albrecht, Michael Xavier Birau, Levi Birau, Benjamin Birau, Ally Claussen, his sister Carol Kendel and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held January 14, 2023 in Trinity, Florida at Trinity Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, memorial service at 12:00pm. Reception will be held at Trinity Memorial Garden’s Magnolia Hall following memorial service.
