Penny was born in LaGrange, Georgia and studied voice at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia as well as the University of New Mexico. She met her husband, Clark Smith, on a blind date in Macon, Georgia where he was attending Air Force Flight Training. They were married for 67 years.
Penny was a master needlecraft artist. She taught all kinds of needlework at her Knit-A-Bit Shoppes. Penny loved playing Sudoku, watching the Texas Rangers Baseball, singing and dancing. Her love of life shown brightest when she was in beautiful Loreto, Mexico where she had many good friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1967.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Ann Fincher; her husband, Clark Smith; her sister, Miriam Todd; and her beloved dog, Bently.
She is survived by her 3 children: daughter, Sandra S. Grace and son-in-law, Dick; daughter, Debra S. Ivy; and son, Darrah P. Smith. She had a total of 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She loved them all. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Efland of Georgia, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Penny will be held on Friday, December 17th from 1:00-2:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas, 313 North Center Street, Arlington, Texas 76011. A funeral service will occur on Friday, December 17th at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas, 313 North Center Street, Arlington, Texas 76011.
