She was born July 30, 1917, in Granfield, Okla., the second child of seven. Mayda was happily married to Dennis Gregory Key on June 1, 1940.
Married for 52 years, Mayda and Dennis were known to many as "church planters." They moved from Wichita Falls to Burkburnett to Grand Prairie and finally made their home in Arlington in 1952. A key player involved in establishing the East Park Row Church of the Nazarene, Mayda served as the church secretary and by teaching both Sunday school and VBS.
Not only did she and Dennis support local ministries together, they traveled the world doing church planting work in Honduras, France, Italy, Germany, Haiti, Peru, New York City, and Indian reservations in Arizona.
She was a breast cancer survivor of 13 years!
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; her husband; and her eldest son, Garry.
Survivors: Her sisters, JoAnn Peters and Julia Londagin; son, Gregory Charles Key; grandchildren, Pamela Key Vinton, Gregory C.P. Key, Dennis Shawn Key, Carie Key Johannsen and Tiffany Key; and great-grandchildren, Landan, Shelby, Nathaniel, Madison, Ally, Carolyne, Caleb and Samuel.
