On Saturday, January 13, 2024, Mary Ann Weaver, a loving aunt and friend passed away at the age of 90 of natural causes. Mary Ann was born October 5, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born to parents Velma Coggins Demases and James Demases in a house at the corner of Cooks Lane and Randol Mill Road in Ft. Worth Texas. Mary Ann Attended Arlington High school and graduated in 1951. She was an excellent student, and was in the National Honor Society and also a member of the FHA. Her studies continued at Arlington State College for two years, graduating with a Business Administration degree. Following college Mary Ann married Richard H. Weaver (deceased). They spent many happy years together and traveled to Las Vegas many times for vacations.
Mary Ann was employed at Ling-Temco-Vought for over 30 years. She began as a secretary but towards the end of her career was given engineer status in pay. Besides excelling at her job, she was also involved in her husband’s business, Weaver Detailing, and after she retired, she served as the bookkeeper for his business for several years.
Mary Ann was a member of First Christian Church and devoted lots of time to their ministry and missions. She was also a dedicated member of Arlington Women’s Club and enjoyed volunteering at many different events.
Cooking her favorited dishes from her Greek heritage was one of her favorite pastimes. She made sure that the family knew how to make baklava and the right pan to use for it. Mary Ann also spent many weekends working at the Henderson Street Market with her sister Helen. They made beautiful Balloon arrangements and were a favorite attraction. She also enjoyed her local sports teams and was always cheering on the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Mary Ann leaves behind five nieces and nephews. They include James Demases (wife, Twyla Demases); Robert Demases (wife Pamela Demases); Warren Anderson; Tammy McCowan (husband, Darrell McCowan) and Marilynn Demases. Mary Ann also has 12 great nieces and nephews, and many more family members. She will be remembered for her strong faith and love of family.
A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 26, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Christian Church, 910 S Collins St, Arlington, TX 76010. A committal will occur Friday, January 26, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Parkdale Cemetery, 701 S Mary St, Arlington, TX 76010.
